El Pico de Orizaba (18,850') is the 3rd tallest mountain in North America and can be climbed during a week long itinerary. The altitude is extreme and depending on conditions, the climbing can be straightforward. However, the climbing can also be very difficult so you need to come prepared for any conditions a big mountain like this can produce. In addition to the climbing this trip is packed with culture. The charming environment of rural Mexico and it's people accompany the high altitude climbing to make this trip a real gem and a must for anyone who plans on climbing the higher mountains and ranges of South America and Nepal. At the tail end of the trip there is time to see Mexico City, one of the most fascinating places on earth. This trip has it all: high challenging adventure, culture, and easy travel all in a tidy week-long trip, which is an easy and inexpensive shot from the US.
