Mountaineering and Winter Trips - Basic Mountaineering

Snow Shoeing

6 Days / 5 Nights, Moderate - Strenuous

Our Basic Mountaineering Trip is designed for those wanting to experience something new in the backcountry and see it with snow still on the ground. This is a skills course designed to give you the basics of mountaineering, including, ice-ax self arrest techniques, traveling on a rope team in crampons, and the Alpine style of travel and climbing in the backcountry. The trip is a wonderful next step after our Mountain Skills Backpack and a good basic pre-requisite to climbing the larger mountains and volcanoes of the world. Including Mt. Whitney, Mt Shasta, Mt. Ranier, Orizaba, Peru, and Aconcagua.

"It was a wonderful trip, I really admire your (Colby Brokvist) dedication and I also admire your training skills. I myself would love to be a guide some day! so I was observing you closely. I learned so much. I like the way you motivate people, the way you explain the technical skills, the way you organize the trip, the way you set up the schedule, the food you cook, the surprises (grapes and cheese, cheesecake, peach flambe ) etc.... I was actually thinking what can you guys improve and i don't find anything to say... the trip was really great." - Marta Solsana, Redwood Trails June, 2006
