- About the Trip: The months of November-February are Costa Rica's dry season. Costa Rica is a diverse country with many eco-systems, lovely people, and adventures at every turn! We will visit the countries' rainforest jungle, coastline, and highlands on this trip. There is so much to do in this country that it is hard to see if it all in one trip, but our 9-day adventure is designed to give you the best of the people, the diverse beauty and wildlife, and the exciting adventures Costa Rica has to offer.
- Group Size: 4-12 participants.
- Grade: Leisurely-moderate hiking, sightseeing, river rafting, jungle canopy activities, etc.
- Meals: All meals included from breakfast on Day 2 - breakfast on Day 9 departure.
- Equipment: All equipment rentals for included activities are supplied.
- Accommodations: Hotels and jungle lodges included from night 1 through night 8. Prices based on double occupancy. Some single occupancy may be available in some cases, but not always in high season.
- Costs of the Trip:
Two Daily guides consisting of 1 Costa Rican local guide and 1 US based guide, all transportation with a driver in a private mini-bus or van, double occupancy hotels, all adventure activities and associated equipment: River Rafting, Zip lining, Hot Springs, Ultra-light flying, Sea-Kayaking, and snorkeling. Cost: 4-8 people: $2550.00 per person on double occupancy.
9-12 people: $2250.00 per person on double occupancy - Your Cost Includes: First nights' shared accommodations, meals while in the back country, camping equipment, permit, and guides.
- Not Included: Personal gear, alcoholic beverages, tips for guides (which typically range from 10-20% of trip fee). Dinner on arrival night 1 at hotel.
- Preparation: The best preparation for this trip is to read up on Costa Rica and it's history, geology, flora and fauna. Physically, walking and moderate hiking will also help on activities and travel fatigue.
- Day 1: Arrival into San Jose, Costa Rica
Arrive in San Jose, transfer from the Airport to the Country Inn Hotel. Hotel is comfortable with a good restaurant, pool, and internet access.

- Day 2: Transfer to start of 3-days on the Rio Pacuare River
On the Rio Pacuare 3 days, you'll enjoy one of the most amazing rainforest experiences possible - breathtaking beauty far removed from civilization's rush and heart-pounding excitement. It is certain to be a highlight of your stay in Costa Rica. The Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world for its scenery and rapids. This tropical river is a trip of pure magic, unsurpassed beauty, wildlife and exhilarating rapids.
Once at the river, your friendly and professional guides will load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment, give you complete safety, and paddle instruction. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest. While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you will be led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim.
Before you know it, you will arrive at the award-winning Rios Tropicales Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall and pools. Nestled in the jungle the lodge sits on a 1,000-acre private reserve. The lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian" style bungalows. Double rooms are spacious with clean linen, and there are modern bathrooms and showers. Electricity is generated by a self-sufficient hydro-plant. Happy Hour will put you in the mood for a tropical evening, followed by a luscious candlelight dinner with wine served by your guides.

- Day 3: Canopy Tour and Hike in the Rainforest
Do not worry about wake-up time. The beauty of the light through the forest, the sound of toucans and the smell of coffee will get you going. This day is designed to enjoy the lodge surroundings. You can choose a variety of hikes - a 4-5 hour hike high to the Pacuare Reserve, a 2-3 hour hike to nearby waterfalls and pools, or short walks near the lodge -, do the canopy tour with zip lining or just relax in a hammock and enjoy nature. There is also a tree-planting program. Experience a side of the Pacuare few people know!

- Day 4: River Rafting
After a hearty breakfast and loading the rafts, you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop by the riverside let you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas, Cimarron, Dos Monta~nas and many more, will have you cheering ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served. Showers, changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are available.
Drive to La Fortuna for the segment of our adventure, lodging at Lavas Tacotal Hotel.

- Day 5: Waterfall hike with Naturalist, Zip lining, Hot Springs, and Volcano viewing
After breakfast, you will do the hiking to the Fortuna Waterfalls, which is the perfect combination; hiking, swimming and enjoying the magnificent waterfalls, that have become one of the most important and visited attraction in this area. In the afternoon, you will enjoy of Costa Rica's longest Zip- lining tour through the jungle canopy.After the tour, you will visit the Baldi Hot Springs.With a total of 10 originating mineral water swimming pools thermos of different springs, with temperatures that go from the 90 degrees to the 110 degrees, it's a great way to finish off the evening.
At night, we'll visit one of the famous Arenal Volcano's Observatories. With clear weather you can witness one the most amazing sites in the Dark skies serve as the backdrop for molten lava which erupts regularly out of the active volcano.

- Day 6: Pacific Coast and Beach
Drive to Flying Crocodile Resort, which is situated on the Nicoya peninsula between Samara and Nosara. There is abundance wildlife in the area varying from monkeys to crocodiles and leatherback turtles to hummingbirds.
This hotel captures the diversity and beauty of Costa Rica in a spectacular micro cosmos in which the philosophy of the hotel is mirrored. The philosophy is a co-existence of animals and people with their environment.

- Day 7: Ultralight Flying
Today, you will have the opportunity to experience a unique activity in the country.
Our hosts at the Resort also run the first and only sanctioned flying center in Costa Rica. After retiring from Lufthansa as a career jet pilot, the owner and his family moved here to pursue their real dream of living and showing off Costa Rica by air. The ultra-light flights are one of the most exciting activities of the trip and a great way to see the diverse area. The flying experience is an adventure activity you will never forget.

- Day 8: Sea-Kayayking and Snorkeling
After breakfast at the flying Crocodile we'll head into the nearby town of Samara and it's pristine beach for a morning of sea-kayaking and snorkeling to a nearby Iguana-filled island. By Mid-day we'll be packing up and heading back to San Jose for a farewell dinner and a night's stay at the airport hotel.
