ABOUT THE TRIP:
Not your ordinary "someone cooks for you and makes all the decisions" type of trip! This course is a very personal and interactive adventure that will encourage you to feel at home in the wilderness. The high country lakes and peaks of the Ansel Adams Wilderness are the gentle backdrop that will support you to be empowered by a newfound strength and assurance that will enable you to experience and enjoy the regenerative stillness that nature offers. Led by one of SYMG's experienced women mountain guides, you will learn everything you'll need to know about backpacking in the Sierra Nevada.ACCOMMODATIONS:
1 night at the Pines Resort on Bass Lake, 3 nights campingGROUP SIZE:

SYMG can supply all needed personal (backpacks, sleeping bags, ground pads, tents) and group camping equipment if requested on the registration form. There is no additional charge for this service. You may print from our web page a detailed gear list, directions, and this itinerary. Journaling is highly recommended and plenty of quite time will be incorporated in the course.MEALS:
Meals begin with dinner the first evening and are provided through breakfast and trail snacks to the last day.COST OF THE TRIP:
$795 per person
Optional single supplement for lodging $125.00/per person. Forced single $75.00.YOUR COST INCLUDES:
Meals provided, though each participant will be doing their own cooking and cleaning. Nutritious lightweight meals will be provided and your special requests honored if we know about them in advance, camping and backpacking gear, permits and guide.NOT INCLUDED:
Personal gear, tips for guides (10-20% of trip fee is typical), transportation. Optional trip cancellation insurance.PREPARATION:
We recommend increasing your exercise routine in the month prior to the trip to increase your cardiovascular/aerobic ability. Hiking, with a backpack, preferably on hills and off pavement is excellent practice.Day 1:
Check in at the Pines Resort on Bass Lake anytime after 4 PM. Meet your guide(s) in the Hotel Lobby and go over a summary of the trip, 6pm. Choose from several local restaurants for dinner.

Day 2:
After breakfast, meet your guide at The Pine Village bakery at 8am drive to the trailhead (roughly an hour- you are responsible for your own transportation). We'll hike 5-6 miles into the Alpine Lakes basin of the Ansel Adam's Wilderness where we make camp. Along the way, we'll discuss the proper packing of a backpack, cover Leave No Trave Ethics and how to choose a camp. In the evening there is time to sw

Days 3:
We'll break camp and continue to make a loop into the wilderness area that borders the Southern boundary of the Park proper. We'll plan on climbing one the peaks that make up the boundary at 11,000'. We'll practice map and compass skills, off-trail hiking and route-finding. In camp, there will be instruction on backcountry cooking and use/maintenance of camp equipment. Dinner and campfire round out a spectacular day in the High Sierra.

Day 4:
This is usually a great day to take a little less mileage and use the day for more exploration. We'll move camp to a nearby lake. There are dozens of lakes to camp near in this area and the group and guide will decide on the exact plan based on their preferences. This is a great day to practice newfound skills while observed by your professional guide. -
Day 5:
An early breakfast and departure put us back at the resort on Bass Lake with time to jump into the lake before heading to your next destination. You'll be back to the trailhead by mid afternoon. -
