Backpacking - Lakes of the Ritter Range

Ritter Sunset

On this trip, we trek beneath the imposing peaks of the Ritter Range on a tour of the high lakes. SYMG guides affectionately describe this area of the High Sierra as "Postcard Country", and with good reason; with Thousand Island Lake, Ruby and Garnet Lakes, Shadow and Ediza Lakes, Mt Banner and Mt Ritter on the itinerary; you just might run out of film! The first days of the trip are spent touring the sub-alpine lakes beneath Mt Banner (12,936'). Then, from a basecamp on Day 4 we explore the upper reaches of the Shadow Creek Basin, getting up close to the Range's namesake, the imposing, dark and glaciated Mt Ritter (13,143').

Hi Ian This email is way overdue. I wanted to let you know what a great time every one of us had on our recent trip. Everyone at your firm was superb to deal with and none more so than Colby. He knew exactly what our limitations were and pushed us and helped us when needed. With his guidance we felt secure and we all made it to the top. We got to see parts of the Wilderness which we will always treasure and sleeping under the stars was great. The food was great, the weather was perfect and the camaraderie was terrific. You put together the perfect trip and the guys wanted to make sure we passed on our heartfelt thanks. I have passed your firm and Colby's names to anyone willing to listen. Be well.
